How do I control alge in a saltwater tank? Its all over my my live sand and tank glass?
The first thing we need to do is identify the algae, then we can come closer to the cause of the algae and also determine if it's an algae at all. So first of all, what color, what does it feel like, where is it at, what are your water levels. If you can tell us that, then we can tell you what type of algae you have and why.

the stuff on the sides of the tank is green and that brushes off fairly easy. There is also semi round reddish pink circles on the glass but that takes some scrubbing to get off. I have my water levels wrote down but I'm at work so I dont have them in front of me.

Redish pink circles are probably coraline if it is really hard to get off. Do you like the look of the coraline? Almost everyone leaves it on the glass and rocks minus the front side obviously. It is a good algae and imo beautiful. The other algae is probably just from a little bit of phosphates.
