Algea problem (too much light?)

I've had my tank up for about 9 months now and I'm still getting quite a bit of green algea. The red slime has dropped off but the green stuff is going strong including green hair. Is this a new tank phase or should I reduce the lighting? Currently I'm running about 4 watts a gallon for 13 hrs.

Check your nitrates and your phosphates and silcates thats more than likely the problem becareful about adding any additives to your tank that can cause bad algae it leads but to high phosphates and make sure the r.o. water your using has a d.i. filter on it to filter out the high iron ie phosphates. hope that helps
