I would use a cheaper alk supplement for starters. Arm and hammer baking soda. Mix a teaspoon in some RODI water let it dissolve then add it to your sump.

You may want to test magnesium also. If you can't get your alk to budge it may be because the magensium is low.

i have low alk aswell, i'm using oceanic salt. so when i make a batch i use kent marine 'superbuffer-dKH'. it raises it with no problems. i do this while i'm mixing a new batch, it takes 24 hours to stabilize ph or even up to 48.
it took me a few batches to get it right.

If you want to buy a alk supliment go to store put a cap full in a gallon of RO and add to sump.Lets it go for a hr or 2 recheck it and see where your at.

cheaper alk supplements?
i've heard of using baking soda. but kent superbuffer-dKH is 5.49 on this site, and 4.99 at another online store. How much is baking soda?

baking soda does work I have used it before, but not as good as say B-Ionics two part calcium and alk that is out there. A little more on the expensive side compared to other alk and calcium supplements but it works. Adjust your alk dose in order to raise your alk a little bit. Once you have both alk and calcium where you need it, do the recommended dosage daily to maintain your levels.
Also its good that your magnesium is ok since that is a key to having constand levels in calcium and alk. So it shouldnt be hard to get your alk where you need it to be.

my point was, i'm sure baking soda isn't that much of a difference than the kent stuff(as in price). it also lasts a long time.
a two part cal and alk wouldn't work for me, my cal starts in the five hundreds, and alk around 2meq/l. so the superbuffer-dKH has worked amazing.
of course now i'm thinking of changing salts.
