 I just read in a book that excessive amounts of ALAGE cause a excessive organic acids in the aquarium, which in turn will lower ALK.
That is something I was not aware of!!! I have a good amount of Macroalage in my tank like Caulerpa and a frilly red alage that is quite attractive. I have no nusience alage like hair or even anything green like that.
So the reason I keep it there is to lower my nutient level and nitrate level...then I will crop it out every water change. So I am now thinking that I always buff my ALK to keep it around 10-12 DKH....could this be the reason for the unstability of my ALK?????
