I am looking for ome answers. Woke up Sat morning everythign in my tank had died( two shrimp, arrow crab, brittle star, tang, goby, toadstool coral and two ther corals). As late as Wed they were all looking magnificant and the animal very active.
My pump had gone out on my protien skimmer but I was unable to get a new one for two days. I had the water tested and everything was right on target.
I guess I am at a loss what could have killed everything overnight
HELP ME PLEASE!

How old is your tank?
How long have you had these critters in this tank?
What were your test readings? Did you test it or did someone else?

My tank has been running for about six weeks or better and all the animals fish and corals were in there just over a month. I had not had the tank running for a few years so I bought some new live rock and mixed it in with the old rock.
I did not do the water test - the manager of the saltwater aquarium store I go did the test I do not have the readings handy at the moment but they were all very good. He actually remarked on how goo d the water is.
I am wondering if since the pump on the skimmer was out for a few days if the O2 level in the tank was depleted and they suffocated?

sounds like new tank syndrom to me .this tank has not been established long enough to house delicate corals or fish yet .6 weeks is barly enough time to cycle for FO

You don't lose a whole tank of livestock because of "new tank" syndrome. To lose a whole tank of livestock overnight means something went drastically wrong quickly. For instance a huge temperature spike, or something added to the tank, possibly by a child, like soap for instance, or copper, or an additive grossly overdosed, electrical shock, etc..... If the deaths were over a period of time then you could relate it to the salinity, or ammonia, nitrates, etc..
A few questions - what period of time did it take for the livestock to die? - overnight?, a few days, a few hours? Did they die all at once, or all at the same time?
Is there anything living in the tank right now?
