All done making DIY live rock

I made my first batch of DIY live rock about 8 months ago from a recipe I got off saltwaterfish.com. I got some great ideas from "Scott 9311."
I made all kinds of shapes/sizes. I went to a couple fish stores and basically asked them if they were interested in my stuff. One store owner in particular went nuts over my rocks. He was like a drug addict...always wanting more and more. I made between 175-300 lbs per week, which translated to $90-$150 a week in store credit. I made enough $$$ to basically pay for (most) of my new 300 gallon set-up; (tank, sump/fuge, skimmer, pumps, powerheads) Anyway, about a month ago the guy quit asking for more rocks, he just said "I don't need no more" and that was it. I think he began to make his own or something. All in all I spent about $1,300 in materials and a lot of elbow grease. But I made out too...I made about $4,300 in store credit :jumping: My tank alone was over $1,100;
the sump/fuge ( 100 gallon with lights, pump ) was $300; and the skimmer was almost $400. believe it or not, I'm kind of glad he quit buying them because I was getting real burned out
:sleepy: I have about 150-200 lbs of the stuff left. Maybe I'll hit-up another lfs or something. I'd give it away on here but S&H would be a killer! The small stuff weighs about 12 lbs, the medium ones about 18lbs and the big ones well ?????:confused: :confused:

Oh I've already used hundereds of pounds in my tanks; in fact, the majority of the stuff in my new 300 is all my stuff. There is probably only about 10 rocks in there that are the "Real McCoy." I think I'll just toss 'em. I really don't see myself upgrading from a 300 (unless the wife lets me)
Heck, I remember upgrading from a 29 to a 55 and being totally stoked! :happy: I also told her that was the last time I would buy another tank. That was seven years ago and since then I've had another 55 then got a 75, then a 90, then a 125. So now it's just the 300 in the livingroom and the 125 in my office. The wife says it looks like -&*$%-* Seaworld in our house (but she loves them) I always catch her looking into them :notsure:

I don't mean to sound harsh but if you want it, you find out how much it would be to ship it. My zip is 92071. (San Diego) I already have to pack it up, ship it, not to mention the $$$ and labor I already put into it, so if you want it, you do the homework. You pay for shipping and you got it..not a penny more! Each piece weighs a minium of 7 -10 pounds. To be honest, It will probably cost more to ship it than to buy it, but you never know. Tell me how much you want either in pieces or pounds and I'll give you the weight. The stuff I have left dry, non seeded. It's cured as far and all; it's been curing in water for the past 8 weeks. I don't know if you're familiar with home made live rock, but basically after it's made, it has to cure in water for six weeks and then cure in saltwater for another two weeks. I'd get a few quotes like how much it would be for 40 lbs, 70 lbs, ??? Let me know, it's a great deal. The stuff is really cool. It made me lot's a dinero. And it's all yours for what ever the shipping costs are. :jumping:

ANDRETTI, so what kind of rock forms do you make? And what ratio do you use for your rocks? or i guess where did you find your reciepe? I found portland type I at menards....do you think thatll be alright? and do you have any pictures?? i'd love to get store credit, lol...see if i can pawn some off, i really want to make some for my 75g i have coming...did you sell just the rock after you cured it? or did you let it start to grow coralline, then sell? thanks, i appreciate any help you can give...i want to have some setup for when i get my 75 started. But i'm trying to get more than a couple opinions, thanks!!!!

I'd put a few piece on that e-place action site, and see what happens. you never know what people will buy there and how much they'd pay for it. start it at a dollar a lb.
