Unfortunately, I think you'll have to choose the fish or the algae. Pretty spendy snack, although I'm sure your fish love you for it.Sorry

isnt there any way i could keep the algea without getting rid of the fish? would it be okto keep it in a extra tank such as a 10 gallon without any fish?

wow, i would be pissed! if you are lucky enough to have a sump, i'd try growing some there and only feed what you prune. will last longer that way i think. i'd sure love a 50 dollar meal!

Yes you could. You'll need a light and some current. You can use a grow light from walmart and a small socket kit. All together will cost you under $10. Then a small power head for some current. While you at you ought to just go ahead and build you a refugium!!

Thats a great idea! how much do you think it will cost with the tank, powerhead, lights, and any other needed materials? :p

this is what you need a refuge to keep algea in there instead of the main tank. i made the one up my self with plexi glass. real cool.

I dont think i was robbed. it was a huge tonga rock with at least 100,000 little grapes on it! I still cant beleive they ate it all! it took up sooo much space in my tank. imagine that half your tank was filled up with grape stuff. then when you come back from work it is all gone! what kind of lights do you sugest for my new 10 gallon algea tank? :D

Check into a refugium....mine is over grown with assorted calupers......I feed my fish with it and take some each month to my favorite LFS for purchase credit(averages about $40 a month!!!)...plus it is a great suppliment to any filtration system(great source of excess nutrient export)
My 35 gal refugium is a rubber maid container and cost less than $50 to set-up!!!! I've made way more than that selling caluperas to my lfs!!!!

You did not mention rock underneath the caulerpa, sorry for the mistake. 32W PC lighting would work well. I have one on my 7 gal tank.

Short of starting a refugium for your algae. Try going to a local oriental supermarket if you have one close by you. Some of them sell dried seaweeds. Soak these in water and in a few seconds they're rehydrated like fresh ones, try feeding it to your tangs. I add these seaweeds to my homemade fishfood (fresh shrimps, mussels, silversides all blended into a very fine paste and frozen in ice tray) my fishes love it.

i feed mine formula one, prime reef, and flakes. the more variety the better in my opinion, but i'm only feeding 2 small fish. i would definately give yours more variety. are you from louisiana, or los angeles. not to be a dumba** or anything, just curious as to where you get your stuff from (if from louisiana).
