Do you think that this is enough fish for my 75 gal.
1- volitan lion
1- yellow tang
1- Auriga Butterflyfish
1- snowflake eel

No, volitan wont work in a tank like that, not happening. Maybe if it was the only one in there, but youre also gonn have a butterfly and an eel and a tang. Now, the tang can slide, and im not too well versed with "auriga" butterflies, and the eel will be perfect, but a volitan wont do. Not enough space or volume, and the bioload would be quite large enough to possibly cause the death of a butterfly. Maybe with massive filtration efforts and good flow its possible, but I would go with a fuzzy dwarf instead. Mine is quite large, and very fat, and they are very interesting to watch and are pleasing to the eye. If not, there are other dwarves to consider, but please dont put a volitan in there. Theres nothing that intriguing about a volitan compared with some of the dwarves, and it would only be a very pissed off fish.

Well, I agree with the bioload causing problems for the butterfly, however, I don't see a volitan being a problem in a 75 if you plan to upgrade to a bigger tank. I have had my juvenile volitan in my 75 for a year now and he is doing great. Of course, I do plan on getting a 150 when the time comes to put the volitan and puffer into a bigger tank.
As long as you get it small, keep up on the maintenance in the tank, he will be a healthy fish. I have 85 lbs. of live rock in my 75 and he has plenty of room in my tank.
Liontamer, I am not trying to start problems or anything, but you always tell people that they can't do certain things. Why not just tell people that a volitan will outgrow that size tank and make sure that they know they will need to upgrade to a larger tank when thier volitan gets bigger? Aren't you the same person who had a volitan in a 55 gallon tank for a while? And that was no small volitan you had either..

Cuz most people dont upgrade and end up killing their fish. Just cuz u have one in yer tank dont mean its allright to tell others that they can do the same. Its unhealthy. Maybe if it was alone, with maybe one other fish, but it would still be cramped. Dont respond

Lion_tamer, I know you posted to not respond, but I just wanna to let you know that I am not trying to start problems with you. You seem like a really cool guy and starting problems is not the way I operate.
It just seems like you go 100% negative in a given situation whether it's about triggers, lions, etc. I wasn't telling slednecks that it was okay to put it in his tank only because I have one in my 75. The exact words I used were "I don't see a volitan being a problem in a 75 if you plan to upgrade to a bigger tank." That's an if/then clause. If you plan to upgrade, the lion is not a problem. You didn't even give him that. You went full force into saying that it would never work. The only reason it would never work is if he didn't upgrade his tank. You just assumed that he would never upgrade his tank. How many people on these boards have multiple tanks though? Come on, everyone these days has like 3 or 4 tanks. Not too many people who really get into this hobby do not wind up upgrading their tank, and some of them do so because their fish outgrow their current tank. I know I really do not have to tell you that though. You are the perfect example. You had your lion in an even smaller tank (with a harlequin tusk and yellow tang?), and your lion (back then) was larger than mine even is now.
I'm not criticizing you or anything, but why all the negativity? Conogre (among others) didn't get all negative with you when you came on here saying your volitan was in a 55 and all. And look at you, you upgraded to a nice 120.
I'm just saying all this because this is a place to come to learn. Slednecks is not learning by you telling him "no, no, no". Give him reasons. Tell him that it is a "no" unless he has definite plans financially to upgrade to a bigger tank in the next 1 or 2 years. Let him know that volitans get to be about 12"-14" pretty quickly and while a small volitan will be okay in a 75 for a year or two, eventually, a fully grown one (or one getting closer to that) will need a larger tank, like a 150. Let him know that that volitan won't be able to make his permanent home in a 75.
Saying all that, slednecks can make a better decision between say a volitan and a dwarf because he will be able to plan his future a little better. Obviously, if he has no intentions to upgrade or if he knows he will never have the room or money for a 120 or 150, he would be smart enough to not choose a volitan. Give people the benefit of the doubt...
