Am I ready for one?

Am I ready for an anemone yet? I want to make sure I am in great shape before I add one to my tank so that it will have the best chance for success. Here are the params...
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 10 (I try really hard to keep it low, but can't seem to get it to zero)
pH = 8.3
Salinity = 1.025
Alkalinity = 6.5 dkH (trying to slowly raise)
Calcium = 315 ppm (trying to slowly raise)
Temp = 80-81 degrees (chiller is out for repair)
Tank is a 24 gallon aquapod with 150 watt HQI, I believe
I am really hoping that this might work, I have been waiting YEARS to get one and feel that I am closer now than ever. I have a black saddle back clown and was hoping to get a green bubble tip early next week.
Also, is there any sort of precautions that I need to take as far as pumps are concerned. I have read horror stories of anemonies getting sucked up into pumps and making a right mess. I have a koralia nano (sorta high in the water column, but I dont want to take any risks) and a maxijet 400. Is there some sort of filter or something that I should add to the pumps to protect the anemone?
Thanks for any help!

Lighting..good
Parameters..good
Powerheads are the problem. I cover the intakes on the maxis with filter material because I have lost an anenome to a powerhead in the past. I have had no issues with the koralias and the anenome..others may offer stories about them, but they are ok by me.

Do you have pic of maxijet covered up? I am not very technologically proficient!

Maybe I can borrow my moms camera and take a picture of where the koralia is....I dont think the anemone would reach it, but I guess its possible....
Wow~ I really can't believe my lighting and parameters might be good enough for this to work out....Its like a dream come true! My clownfish will be soooooo excited!

if u get a bta, they dont move all that much once settled. i wouldnt worry about the powerhead. imo, only a stressed and weak anemone will get sucked up by a powerhead.

I dont agree my anemone is very healthy been in my tank for over 8 months and has found its way into 2 of my power heads.
Pre filters are a must on all power heads and intakes if you have an anemone. You can use a womens nylon, stocking, pantyhose cut a piece of it and wrap it around the intake portion of the power head secure it with a rubber band.

Sac.....Perfect Dark's suggestions for ways to cover the intake strainer on the maxi jet are good ones. I used a piece of the blue/white filter material that many people use in their 'wet-dry' filtering systems, cut it to a size that would wrap one thickness around the intake strainer, then secured it with a rubber band...pretty low tech..and I had to replace them every 2 weeks because they got lots of detrius in them.I am happy for you. Nice to see hard work/planning come to fruition

IMHO your tank is too small for that nem. i am in the process of upgrading my 37g to a 75g just because of my rbta. it has outgrown my tank in 5 months. my big problem is that i have a reef so i guess that if your tank is not a reef maybe you'd be ok... my nem hasn't moved but it still did start getting sucked up by my MJ once just cause of it's tentacles... we zip tied a media bag over the intake to protect it but it has to be cleaned frequently.

Yes, I wish I had a larger tank, but it is just not a possibility right now so I will have to make due with what I have. I think some people here have had success keeping the anemones in small tanks like mine, but I can certainly see how larger would be better.
Okay, so as far as protecting the anemone from the maxijet...Here is what I guess my plan will be. I am going to either get some filter media/nyons and cover up the intake area. I have that longer plastic thing with all the slots on it coming down from the maxijet, so that is what I will cover up, correct?
Should I bother covering the Koralia? I don't even know how I would do that....

Same as you would on the MJ, the Koralia is split with like a band of plastic. That band separates the intake from the exhaust. Cut the nylon or stocking into a rectangle strip, wrap it around the back portion of the Koralia, use 2 rubber bands, one on the back of nylon the other around the part of the nylon close to that band. I will post a picture later of u want of how I did mine.

Sorry it took so long... I also made a post for pre filters too. Here are my prefilters..
The MJ30 the material is the stuff they give you when you purchase a tank divider.

The Koralia, womans nylon rubber banded to the back half of the PH.

And last is the divider material again covering the intake of my over flow on my tank. Again you can see how important they are to have. My anem would be grated cheese with no prefilter on.

I did the koralia exactly like the picture (actually before I even saw your pic) so I am glad I figured it out....I also covered my maxijet. THe only thing I didnt cover was the overflow slots....It seems like there is virtually no suction pulling hte water thourgh those slots, so I didnt even think I should cover it. WOuld your recommend covering it up anyways? ALso, where can I get that divider material?

I would absolutly cover up your intake especially the upper one. The only thing holding that filter on mine is suction. You will see it when you apply it that there is more suction than you think. That anemone when I first got it actually slipped all the way through one of those slots because I didnt have a pre filter on. Then it got dumped into the middle chamber of my cube, which at the time had the top cover on it to disperse water throught the entire chamber. It actually got stuck half way into one of those slots I had to remove that grate and let it sit in my tank until he decided to pull himself out of it. It was a nightmare and I thought I was going to lose him.
I got mine from my LFS, but I am sure the petcos and petsmart places have them too. I got the 10 gal size it was about $10, but I have more than enough of that filter stuff for future applications.

I think your tank is a bit small, my RBTA would just about fill your 24 gallon...they can grow very quickly, a healty one will grow and not split...IMO wait till you upgrade to a bigger tank

Sounds like you really want one, so my best advice I could give you is to feed it weekly or so, to try to slow the growth as much as possible (as horrible as that sounds). It could fill up the tank quite well, but best of luck to you!!!
