One problem with that idea is that lets say your sump overflows because the powerelectricity is cut off, and some of the excess water flows into your 5 gal container. How are you going to get that water back into the sump wen the power coms back on? If you can't the sumps going to run 5 gls low. Plus if you have auto top off it will add more freah water thinking the system is low 5 gals.
