I picked this up from Chris on Friday. I was suprised nobody bought the clam before I did. It's deep orange with intense blue dots.
Enjoy,

very pretty. I can't wait to start getting clams. I just got my lights and thought I'd wait a few months and then get one.

Outstanding coloration...my squamosa has grown from a 3" infant into a 6"-7" beast!!! Not the same color pattern as yours...but I've become very attached to mine.

very nice clams
what type of lighting to you guys keep your squamosa's under? i've read that they don;t require as much light as maxima's
would a 400mh be enough if it was kept on the bottom of a 22in tall tank?

Mine was in a 55 with 4x65 PC's & 2x110 VHO's until about 3 months ago. Its now in a 100 with 2x110 VHO's & 2x400 MH's...it did well before but is doing much better now...I'm thinkin' it likes the new light source better than the old light source.

Jimmy G Can i get any clam in my 55 with 260 watts of VHO?

I don't think so,
I think clams require higer uv bulb than what vho can provide.

Mine is under a 400wt 10,000k Ushio (on PFO HQI ballast) and gets partial illumination from a nearby 400wt 20,000k Radium (also on PFO HQI ballast). A 400wt halide should be more than enough on a 22" tall aquarium.

I would advise against it. It would be much better off under more intensity. However, you could most likely keep an H. hippopus successfully under that lighting. However, they're not the most colorfull clams ;)
