Amd!

Acronyms must die!
Some of the acronyms people use get on my nerves so much. It gets to the point where people have to start asking questions to find out what they are. Does it really save time to type one if you are going to have to answer questions about what it means? Further, for those people who use IMO, IMHO, etc., we get the point; it's your opinion. Who else would you be referring to? Thus, is it really necessary to add IMO? It is clearly your opinion so why do people feel they need to say it? It's not going to make me stop reading or using the forums but I was just wondering if anyone else shares the same feelins as I do.

LMFAO.

I never said I wanted to start a battle or that it really bothered me, it's just annoying, kind of like you.

You guys think that you are funny by using acronyms on this thread, but to me it seems pretty tasteless and too easy. I agree that sometimes acronyms get out of hand especially when they exceeds four letters. I am pretty much used to it though, because it is a big part of my generation. I still feel that a conversation is more enjoyable when people use whole words. I know where you are coming from. Simply put...get over it. Just kidding.

wysiwyg is the only one i absolutly hate since it took me forever to figure it out, and it's just about as long as just typing out the words

what you see is what you get = wysiwyg
yes, yes, I can definitely tell where you are getting the 'just as bout as long' theory.

Outrageous ones are annoying, but some are alright. I use them myself on here and others on chat. JMO, IMO, DSB, QT, DT, SSB, etc. are used on here. Have you seen the list for this site? The JMO or IMO are used often because if people do not state that it is just their opinion then people act as though they got the information from a tablet from God. Not always, but it happens enough that that particular acronym is needed. People become upset rather than realizing that the person was simply stating their opinion. There is no need to get upset about it though. It is something that we all use here.

That's a good point. Thanks for the input. Most of the time it doesn't bother me, but for some reason yesterday it did because I was reading a couple threads and the conversation switched from the original topic to what the acronym meant.
