Ammonia question

I've had my tank up for about 6 monthes. All is fine and nothing has went wrong with it yet but I checked my levels today and everything is normal except ammonia. It is at .25. Should I be worried? I've did a water change and it's the same. It's a 55 gal btw. I have not added any fish in about a month or so. All I have is some LR, 2 perc clowns, and a cleaner shrimp.
Anyone????

How old is the kit? I have the same one and haven't had any issues...given that my tank has only be up for about 5 weeks

a month old?? But I'm not sure if that's the reason. I'm just wondering why I can't get rid of the .25 ammonia. Is there any other way? Thanks

Do you use tap water for your tank and if so do you live near a big city? I ask this because my brothers tank was complety wiped out by an ammonia spike, and it was because the city put ammonia in the water, test your source of tap water and see if thats the cause.
