i noticed my ammonia was high so i used some amquel+ to remove ammonia, nitries and nitrates but it didnt seem to help so i did a 10 gallon water change yesterday and another 10 gallon change today and cleaned out my canister filter. idk what to do next. wait? any sugestions? i have a 55 gallon, protien skimmer, canister pump and 4 damsels

Amquel + will not actually remove the ammonia - it converts it to a non-toxic form. Many ammonia test kits will still give a positive reading, but that is ok. The bacteria developing in your tank can still use the Amquel+-treated ammonia, so it will eventually go down. Be sure to follow the directions on the bottle.

How long has your tank been up? Has it cycled yet? What is your setup?(live rock, live snd, filters) What were the actual numbers?

live sand like 3 inchs, live rock idk how much and im pretty sure its cycled its been up about 4 weeks now but i have real ocean water and the rock and sand never dry out so the ammonia isnt up from that last week levels were around .25 -.5 and after my water change ~1

It sounds like the tank is still cycling. I would take the damsels out of there because it is very harmful to have fish with a high ammonia level.
