And my diy kalk reactor, and some others.

Welp just wanted to share a pic of my diy kalk reactor. Just got it hooked up and it's working good.

Thanks Mark, right? It is stirred with a pump under it that goes out the back. It blows through the bottom and sucks about 12" above the bottom.
Have you seen my ca reactor, got it done last week.
Here it is.

I really like the pump stirred kalk reactors. I've used both types, I feel the pump stirred is a better unit, plus its cheaper to make..
Yes, I did see your Ca reactor, it looks just like the one I have been using for 4+ years (Geo)

The reactor seems to be working good, it is mixed with a maxi-jet 600.
I have a question about your ca reactor. I know I can't base your's on your tank and mine, but how many bubbles do you have per minute threw your bb counter? Also how much effluent is it putting out per minute? I have mine set at about 36 bb per minute and 60ml per minute. Ca has risin some probably around 430 or so from the tester, but the alk is about 11 ppm. Is that ok? The ph is at lowest 7.8 at night and 8.2 during lights on.

I'm duing about 75 BPM at the counter and about 200 ml's per minute effluent....that's all going to change soon because I'm going to take my Kalk reactor off line..HTH

thanks mark, i need to ask you another thing or two. y will you be taking it offline? also, a guy told me, and i have read online that kalk actually puts phospate in the tank, but then again i have heard more people, plus the back of label on the kalk container say that it depletes phosphates? whats the deal?

I'm going to remove my reactor. I'm heading in another direction so I wont be using it for awhile, maybe for good.
As far as your other questions go, I think som eof the other guys maybe be able to explain it better then I can.
Good luck

kalk is said to precipate (sp?) phosphate, and you can actualy siphon it out durring a water change.....
supposibly...

That is what i thought, but they said it puts phosphates in. Must have been confused or something. How would you siphon it out?

CaPO4 is basically insoluable above pH 4.3. So it will precipitate in the saltwater tank environment. Let it settle out and siphon it out.
