Brought a piece of live rock the other day and got an anemome hitchiker. I was wondering if i'm gonna have enough to keep him alive? I have just standard flourescent light. Or if there is anything i need to feed him. I usually feed flake and krill to my fish and sometimes frozen brine. is there something else they might prefer?

I think it is an aptasia also, VERY MUCH nuisance anemone. Common hitchiker on LR
KILL IT
The copper banded butterfly fish is said to eat them as well as fire shrimp.

ok is it as easy as pulling him off the rock? what is joe's juice?

Joe's Juice you can get at most LFS or online and you use the hypodermic thats included and squirt the stuff right into the mouth of the aptasia and bye bye little pest.

Aptasia a very bad bad litle creature-it will multiply like crazy and take over your tank. We have some tiny ones now in our tank-do not know where they came from? No new rock introduced-Maybe came in on a snail or hermit? Anyway I am waiting until they get a little bigger to "juice 'em " because I think they can spread if you don't get right in the mouth part. Ther are critters who will eat them not sure which ones. Good luck! :happyfish :happyfish

DO NOT just pull him off as this will leave little bits of tissue behind, and each little bit can become a new aiptasia. There are several different preferred methods out there, but I used JoesJuice and it was wonderful! Very fast and not too expensive.

Peppermint Shrimp found my litlle one and ate it within 3 hours. I was lucky, but Joes Juice is what I hear everyone talk the most on. Mine was difficult to reach.

if u want to do a more hands on approach and save money i did it by getting a syringe (spelling?) and i got boiling hot water and sprayed the boiling hot water onto them, killed them all, and its pretty fun to do... i had fun atleast

what if your tank is getting way out of hand with these aiptasia? how do you kill all of them without having to inject each one or destroying your tank?

I just added 4 peppermint shrimp over the weekend. Before that I had a number of small aiptasia, now they are gone.

Joe Juice or kalk paste. Both will kill them. Your will need to get each and every one!!
They will come back in force if you don't tanke care of the problem now.
