anemone and confused

i bought a bubble tipped anemone from my local fish store about two weeks ago and its got me baffled. is it normal for it to deflate all the way every few days or is there something wrong? its finally stationary (which was a relief since i lost another one to my filter on the first night...ouch) and it will reinflate itself but it no longer has the dark green tips it used to when i first bought it. It also has a tendency to spread itself out alot.
my tanks been set up for over a year and levels are all perfect. ive got plenty of water flow (penguin 170 and a powerhead) and i also run 2 24 watt bulbs ( 1 actinic and another which says daylight on it and has the number 10000k. the light fixture is made by jbj and was told explicitly it could support corals in my setup by a few people). the light is directly over the anemone in a 20 gallon long tank. is there such thing as too much light for an anenomy?
I also have a damsel and a percula who loved it at first and now will hesitantly go near it. also how often should i feed the thing? whenever i put shrimp in it it will close up, open back up and not eat it! help im confused and probably halfway to getting an ulcer!

Anemones do tend to deflate occaisionally. As far as the lighting goes, it will move if the light is too bright or too dim so don't worry about it. The lighting you have on your 20 long is about right for a bubbletip although many think they need gright lights.
you want to be right around 4-5 watts per gallon for corals.
As far as feeding, one to two times a week would be fine for the anemone.

i really think you need to have more light if you want to keep you anemone for any length of time. besides regular feedings, they derive a large portion of their nutrition from the symbiotic zooxanthellae algae the live within their tissues. i'm afraid that the amount of lighting you have isn't enough to sustain the anemone indefinitely...
