anemone and triggers

Hi, Im new to the board. Can I keep a small to medium clown trigger in a 700g tank with anemones?? I know this is a stupid question but I just had to ask it. Im in the process of building my tank and wont be up and running for a few weeks. The rest of the tank will consist of mostly tangs.

From everything i read coincidentally enough, depending on the trigger you should be safe, most of the ones i read about even if they mess with sessile inverts they will still steer clear of anemones. 700g??? wow I only wish.

if i were you, i would try a blue jaw trigger instead of the clown, the blue jaw is a reef-safe trigger (but eats inverts)

If I have to keep a trigger. It will be a clown. They are striking. I might just hang up the whole anemone thing. I have plenty of time to think about livestock but I want to plan it out carefully. Ive seen tanks with anemones and Picassos?? Thanx

you do know that anemones need somewhat strong light. as for trigger i would go with a blue jaw or niger.

This tank will have 3 400w mh and 4 55wpc. Not a problem. 2 closed loops using two hayward 1hp pool pumps. 100g sump with Downdraft skimmer and uv. I havent decided on a chiller or if im adding a wave maker using actuated ball valves. It will be fish only but I love mh lighting.

triggers go for inverts like shrimp, crabs, and snails. I wouldn't worry about anemones.....
Sure you don't want a cool 1000 gallons?

My original plan was for 1000 but during construction I decided to make it a little smaller. The tank I constructed is very very sturdy with no chance of blow out. I have to keep a clown trigger so ill add a anemone and then add the clown later and see what happens. Most will advise against it but you live and learn. lol

I really don't think triggers mess with anemones but i could be wrong. Clowns are the most expensive triggers ive seen though. What kind of angel if any do you want?

I want to keep one angel. I like emperor or majestic but undecided. My true love is tangs. Ive have never kept a large angel over 7 months. My tanks were too small and or too crowded.

I understand. In a tank that size though you could do two... If they were from different seas and you get them small and different genus(i think its that). Its been done before. You certainly can mix some tangs in that tank though. One cool thing is a pair of regals tangs. Especially when they hang out together all the time. Hell if you are going to go strictly tangs you could try corals too....

If I wasnt so hard pressed on a clown trigger. I could do corals but for a tank this size the price of the live rock would be killer. Im setting up a 90 gallon reef after this tank and that should take care of that itch. Ive always wanted/dreamed of a large fish only tank. Ill have to research my angels a little more. I heard its best not to get one too small or too large?? Powder blue is by far the nicest, I never get tired of seeing that fish. Ill have at least 8 medium sized yellow tangs they are hardy and will provide lots of color. Its so hard to get a game plan when you like so many types of fish. Clown trigger is a must, that i know.
