Anemone closed up

Just added what I believe is a Purple Long Tentacle Anemone to my Fish/Reef to be tank. System has been running for only 3 weeks and so far so good, but the Anemone has just curled up in a ball, between a couple of rocks and? One clown has taken to the Anemone but I wondering what might be happening!
Would appreciate any words of wisdom.
Thanks, Bob

When I first got my LTA, it did the same thing. Give it time to get used to things. Dont try to move or feed it for a few days. I agree you tank is too young for an anemone but hopefully it will do fine.

Thank you both for your replies. Funny how fish stores will sell you anything and not ask key questions! Lets hope for the best.
FYI I have 54G corner tank with out halogen, but I'm look to buy shortly. The overflow in the back corner works great and into a sump with skimmer.
Slow and steady wins the race with a quality aquarium.
Regards, Bob

Many will say its much too early for the anemone. My wife couldnt wait and bought one for us after maybe 3 weeks of setting up tank. It took about two weeks for the anemone to look normal. Stayed shrived looking most of the time, but looks healthy now. Make sure water has cycled and he has plenty of light. good luck, dont let him die in the tank...Matt

My wife was identical. The Anemone looked great (normal) for 5 days then shrivelled up and still that way. Clowns are wondering whats going on! We'll just have to be patient. Do you feed anything special for anemone? Thanks for your thoughts. Bob

I have had my anemone for 5 months. I know most people spot feed theirs-I never have. I watch mine catch live brine....they fend for themselves in nature. In my opinion they do just fine without us :)

I wouldn't addd an anemone in the first 3 months.. anemones requires mature system.. and you can't call a system amture once it has just finished cycling.

If you don't have the proper lighting they have to be fed.

Thanks again to those that replied. I'm about to invest in Halogen Light System and it sounds like that will help. It's difficult to find lighting for corner tank that really isn't that big but I make it work. Thanks Bob

So, by reading this, am I to understand you have no lighting on this tank yet?
I would say that is why your Anenome has not opened up, and probably won't.

I have 24" power contact on timer for 14 hours a day. Will be looking at Metal Halide 150W MH that can attach to side of canopy. It's difficult to find 24" that will fit inside canopy for corner tank, not a lot of extra room.
I would put PC on seperate timer from MH and not run either concurrently. Does this make sense?
