Hello guyz
I have a very happy Anemone Emerald crab from SWF. He has taken up residence in a BTA.
Sometime in the last week or so he has come up missing one of his claws.....the big ones.
Will he grow another?
Thnx in advance, and thanks to our host who have given me great product and service for my SW addition.

While I am not an expert on this crab, I have never heard of a crab re-growing any part of itself.
So I would not expect it to re-grow.

While it is not a guarantee, generally when a crab loses a leg or claw, it WILL regenerate.
Anemone Porcelain Crab Scientific Name: Petrolisthes maculates
If attacked by a predator that grabs hold of a claw or leg, the porcelain crab can cast off the limb then slip away before the attacker realizes the rest of it is gone. But why would it want to lose such a valuable part of its body? This strategy helps to keep the crab from getting an infection in an open wound where the predator would have bit it. Releasing the limb from where it connects to the body, the crab then seals off the area. Eventually, the porcelain crab will regrow or regenerate the leg or claw.

I have had an Emerald Mithrax Crab, Porcelain Anemone Crab and an Acropora crab lose their claws and grow them back

Well this is good news.....I'll be watching for signs.
He seems to be doing ok without it. He hasn't left the anemome as far as I can tell.
Thnx
Dave
