My Florida Condi anemone that I just put in my tank looks like it is shriviling up! It was big and beautiful and within about 2 hours I cam back down and now it is less than half the size and looks like it is shriviling up!! Is it dying? Anything I can do?

Leave it alone, they do that...believe me I know...They shrivel up when they (poop) and for other reasons that I do not know...How long have you had it?

I have had it for only 2 days. It was hugh earlier today, big nice long flowing arms. Now it is almost just an orange stumbe with small little white shriveled up arms. I would way it is 1/3rd the size it earlier. I mean the base is the same size just no arms hardly. I was so proud of it cause it was my first anemone but now I am afraid it is dying.

nope not dying, just acclimating. my BTA does that,a nd infact when I first got it, it wouldn't even eat for two weeks. Now it has come out of hiding and eats every 3days or so. It shrivels up to expel waste and other reasons I don't know why like meowzer said. In fact mine did it today, found a silverside spine next to my BTA and it was shriveled. Now its back and I'll prob feed it tomorrow.

I read somewhere on this site that they do that as a way to do their water change. But what a sight from a nice big flowing anemone to a small ball of goo. Has to scare you. I would expect that is something that will startle you everytime it happens.
Thanks for confirming that it happens, picking up a BTA this weekend, MH due in on Friday and clowns are in tank waiting.

i agree.
my rock/flower anemone does the same. it will shrivel and look as if its dying and then the next few minutes it spews black flemmy stuff out. then its open wide again taking in light. bugger than before.
normal.

Mine is doing the same thing except he spits out all food and still looks terrible. Its like he wont grow back or wont die.
