my anemone is curling up kinda and is looking a bit brownish now.. it was white and big when it came home.. but past few days it looks ill.. i feed it everyday chunks of shrimp.... i think one or two if its arms are like ripped in half...other fish in the tank is one yellow tang and 3 damsels

what type of lighting? what type of anenome? in my short time of experience anenomes only do well in my tank under mh lights... i've tried them under pc's and lost that battle. i have a carpet anenome that was given to me from a pet store that was white and brown.. in the past month it has turned a vibrant green and has set up shop in the bottom of my tank and sprawls out to about twice the size it was when i got it..

I have a 55 gallon and 260 watts of PC lighting, half white/half acitinc, and I think this is about the minimum I could do in my tank for anemones (at least that's what I've been told here) and my anemones do just fine with PC lights.

Most will not survive under just pc lighting, trust me i have tried a nice little seabee, But depending on what typr you got, you never did tell us! My seebee was bleached out badly, ( i did not know this) and died within a few days of coming home!

That will not be enough to keep a hosting anemone alive. Simply put you must upgrade that lighting or send the anemone back to the LFS or its going to die. 40 watts of (sounds like normal output lights) will be a slow death for an anemone. They are photosynthetic animals and must have proper lighting. Doesnt' really matter with that lighting what type of anemone it is, but we would still like to know....?

Ah no I don't think so, its not that easy. The bulbs we use in this hobby usually come with large ballasts to power them and this type of lighting is usually expensive and can cost more than the tank, stand and hood we have. Try this lighting 101 link by 007.
