anemone eat a clown fish?

One of my perc. are missing and after looking all over the tank for it I have to ask if the anemone would have ate it. It was my smaller male clown and the female is really missing him. I have had them for over a year but just got the GBT anemone 2 months ago. In the past week it moved to the clowns' favorite part of the tank and last night I noticed my clown was gone. The anemone is well fed but has been acting funny the past 2 days.
Comments? Could the anemone of ate it?

WOW...I have heard of fish eating carpets, and condi's, but I thought bta's liked clowns

How big is this anemone??

It's more likely that it died and is lost somewhere...
Yeah, how big is the nem?
Do you have any creature that would have taken the corpse and hidden with it to eat it?

The anemone is 7-8 inches.
I really don't have anything that would of hidden corpse. I just checked my levals and all are good, so I don't think its dead somewhere. I can see places in my tank and the hubby and I took the flashlight last night and looked for him inside and outside the tank.
I didn't think the anemone would hurt it and since I have had it the clowns haven't gone around it until it moved to their area. The anemone has been deflated all day today.

It sounds possible that it ate it...
Do you have overflows...make sure to check them (no matter how big of a pita it is. Also check around your tank really well.

i had a very large 12inche ish gbt that ate a large blenny that got pushed into it and couldnt get out quick enough. If the clown was sick or hurt, could happen,,,

We checked the overflow because I've had fish get in there before and we didn't see him in there.
My clean up crew is some blue leg crab, snails and an emerald crab.
The poor fish had been through a lot with me. A year ago I upgraded tanks and just now getting it good again with corals after alge problems and nitrates.
He was small guy.

very unlikely the bta ate it I have a rbta over 12" and a gbta about 8" and 2 clowns that are only 1.5"-2" and they are fine.if you said a green carpet anem then yes

That's what I thought, but no other explanation can be reached

The BTA could just happen to look bad at the same time the fish died...
but I'm sure that BTAs are capable of eating it...
How is the nem now?

do you have a lid on the tank? check everywhere around the tank REALLY well, it might have jumped. I can say this cause I've had clowns jump from my tank.

Yes it can happen. I came home today and found my clownfish missing. After searching the everywhere I looked closely at my anemone and you can see the fish in its belly. Totally freaked me out, I never thought that would happen

You could actually see the fish in the anemone???

if a clown fish's slime coat is not present or enough of it for protection yes it becomes food for the anemone as would any kind of fish that in nature doesn't have this type of slime coating.. this specialized coating protects the fish from the sting of the anemone
