Anemone for my maroon...

Okay my new maroon clown has decided it wants to host my return line and my mag float, so I'm going to try and find an anemone for it being she wants to host.
I've read on another forum that instead of getting her an anemone, due to them being a pain, that I should get some frogspawn or some xenia.
Basically I'm going to have "some corals" but im not sure how much (I'm not a huge fan of wall to wall corals though, just not my thing). But I worry about getting an anemone and having it walk around killing the few corals I do decide to get.
The thing I was thinking though, don't they stop walking around once they find their spot?
Also what's the best anemone (ease of care balanced with something the maroon will host) overall? The LFS here has some condi (which are not a good choice i dont think) and an LTA, but i'm willing to look around/order here too :)

What kind of lighting do you have first off? That can make a difference as to whether you can house an anemone or not. I was never successful with them. And I have VHO lighting. lol My pair host a beautiful and good sized bubble coral. But the easiest anemone that your girl would probably host is a bubble tip anemone. You'd have to make sure to get a good sized one because maroons will literally love them to death. And yes, they will move until they find the spot that makes them the happiest in your tank.

Condi won't host. They will more likely eat your fish. Best to research just what types of anemones will be good for your maroon like a bubble tip or a corkscrew.

I have a 175W MH so I'm fairly sure i'm good for anything I can toss in the tank. I was thinking about the "curly Q" nems, most times they come in a multipack so if she takes to it she can go from one to another. I'm also talking with a local reef club member who has RBTAs that split every few months (his one is 13x18, just enormous, he gets small splits off it very frequently) so I was thinking about that as an option too. Just wasnt sure if one type of nem was easier than another.

Yeah. You have an excellent lighting system. I'm not sure how easy a curly Q is but I'm sure there are a few people on here that have more experience with them. My female always loved my bubble tips to death no matter what the size. Luckily, my bubble coral has no issues with her loving nature.
She even feeds it for me.

Maroons are one of the more aggressive clowns on anemones and corals that they host. It will more than likely destroy any coral that it hosts, but anemones can take the abuse. I'd recommend getting an anemone, $30 for something that will last, or $30 for something that you're going to have to replace every few months

Condi's are awful and I would never recommend anyone putting them in a reef tank (or any tank for that matter) and your clown probably won't host it.

My marroon absolutely loves his bubble tip anenome. He just rubs in it all day long. The anenome moves around, but I have it on a rock that doesn't touch any other rocks and he won't go across the sand to get to another rock. I've got some clove polyps on the very top of the rock, but the anenome doesn't seem to like to go that high on the rock. So it's not bothered.
