anemone smart?

Is an anemone smart enough to find a good spot in the tank? I had my anemone in a great spot but it keeps moving to the bottom sort of in the shade? I moved it back up to a good place on the rock, is that a good Idea or should I let it find its own place?
thanks

It may have a problem with the water flow in the good light area. Too high or too low a flow will make an anemone move.

I was having the same problem with mine. I finally got him to stay in spot by moving the rock he kept moving on, into the spot I wanted him. He really hasn't moved yet. Some times he will move to the underside of the rock he is on and I will just flip the rock and he is fine. Hope this helps. He is just trying to keep you busy.

First off what type of anemone are we talking about?
There could be many reasons why he is moving. But how long have you had him? Have you recenly changed anything? Lighting or lighting schedual? Water movement? It could be reacting to a chemical change, if it is new to the tank then it could simply be looking on its own for greener pastures so to speak. It could be moving away from other corals...lots and lots of possiblilities and reasons why it could be moving.

Thomas, it is a pink tip. And now that you mention it I got a new power sweeper power head and move some of my other power heads around.

That could be enough to do it. Give him time to settle down and find a new spot. Many of my BTA's are about 2 inches below a Maxi Jet 1200 but they don't move, they really seem to like the flow.
