Today I was working in my 10 gallon Condi Anemone tank and I ran my arm across his tentacles. Every other time I do this its fine but this time my arm started to sting. It ended up breaking out like poison ivy would but it just really burns. Whats up with that???

If im not misteaken put some vinegar on it. Should help sooth it if it still is stinging.

I really dont care about the sting that much, in fact I thought it was pretty kool to have an injury caused by a marine animal when the nearest ocean is about 200 miles away!!! So you say this means he is healthy??? Well I guess thats pretty good. Are there any corals that you can buy that will really sting you, like fire coral?

i got stung by a large carpet anemone on the wrist, it didnt hurt but looked like poison ivy and itched like crazy for about a week. generally if they get you on thick skin it wont do anything but where he got me was to thin i guess.

Really?!?
I wasn't aware they could get you. I haven't brushed mine but never gave it a thought. I know certain button polyps can really give your nervouse system a shock. I was dumb enought to rub my eye after adding some of my buttons to the tank and I thought I'd be going blind. Hurt like hell... didn't realize how bad the corals were till months later when I read the neurotoxin warning in a sw book.
Large bristle worms hurt too....
