Thomas,
Any idea what kind of Anemone this is from my latest picture. I think it is a bubble tip without the bubbles. Is that possible?

Im starting to have doubts that I can keep this anemone alive with mh lighting

do you really think 260 watts of pc is enough. I dont like losing animals and would feel really bad if i made a stupid impulse move.

Did it eat that silverside?
What puzzles me at the moment is that from the latest pic it seems to be very flat, as though the column were almost non existant.
The light colored tips can happen to both LTA and BTA.
Here you can see many of my BTA's with and without bubble tips, with and without lighter colored tips. One pic with flash other without.

Thomas,
The anemone did eat the silverside. He also lays flat with his tenticles out during the day and stand up withhis stalk out at night. Does this help at all?

Still on the rock? Bubble tip.
If it goes to the sand and buries its foot LTA.
he still looks stress though. give it some time.

Thomas,
His base actually has a red foot on the bottom and there is a speckled pattern at the very bottom.

Does the column otherwise look smooth? no evidence of verrucae along the column? Tanish yellow to greenish in color along the column sides?
Verruca (wart): In hexamerous anthozoan (anemone or coral), one in a series of muscular, hollow adhesive structures lined with gland cells; often in longitudinal rows along outer surface of column between lines of septum attachment
Does the column look like this?

That is the column of a BTA, lets stick with that ID and give him a couple of months to get cozy and give me another shot after a few weeks.

Thomas,
Things just got a little more confusing. He moved to the bank part of my tank and into the sand. Looks like a LTA. When i set my tank up I stacked all the rocks in the middle of the tank so the fish would have room to swim behind the rocks. Now the anemone decides he likes it better back there. Any way to convince him to come out towards the front and not back? The lighting is the same. Are the 265 watts of PC over a 55 suffecient for a LTA?

Very typical behavior for a new bta to move to the back of the tank, happens all the time. Keep an eye on him, if he burries his foot into the sand then hes an LTA for sure. 265watts will need to reach the bottom of the tank for good lighting, I'd feel better if it were MH bulbs which have the proper PAR to reach the bottom of the tank, but lest still wait a couple of weeks and see what it does.

currently its about 15 inches deep in the tank. Im not sure how deep the lights would penetrate. I know there is a thread somewhere on this but i couldnt find it again

Thomas,
The anemone is looking great. He is eating on command now. He defintly set up shop in the back left of my tank and opens behind the rock work to the only part of light back there. Is there any way I can get him to move without touching him?

Examine your rock work, make sure that there are places for him to put his pedal disk into BTA's love to hide their foot in such crevasses. Give him a full week at least and see if he stays there before attempting to move him, or the rock work. Examine the water flow that he is in, it could be one reason that he chose this location, but he could still be resting up for another move, let him decide for now.
I'm really glad to hear he is doing better, give him a full week before trying to move him or the rocks, try to figure out why he likes it there. You may even want to move your power heads a few inches in some direction which will change the pattern of the current inducing him to move.

Thomas,
Here are some new pictures of the anemone. The last one is after he ate. It really looks like a Ritteri because of the tips, but seems to like the bottom half of the tank. Take a look and let me know what u think.
