which system are you looking for??
it all depends on what u want... u can make your own canopy if u have any handy skills and tools i was just lazy and got a good deal i got mine made for $150 and it looks very clean and has dual opening tops
if you get a canopy i would go with the retro fit kits as far as lighting if u do open top then get the 48" complete hood system.... thats the hard decision...

Thats the set up I was looking at. Does this have a hood and such to hold the lighting?

it comes in a manufactured unit all together that u mount on top of your tank with mounting legs to hold it so far off the tank... if u dont mind having an open top on your tank then i think thats the way to go....

How would I get a closed top. I understand if I had a open top I would loose a lot of water each day. Also where did you get your canopy from?

well u would need to have a canopy made for you tank of you can try to make yourself a simple on for the time being....
to me a canopy looks cleaner... the problem with evaoration can be solved with daily top offs of distilled water... i add about 1-2 gallons a day with my auto top off system it does it when the sensor gets low....
i got my canopy from my LFS they have a dealer who makes them and they got it for me... i coulda made it since i do construction but it wasnt worth my time...
