anemones

i can get an atlantic anemone for 5 bucks at my lfs, it sounds a little too cheap,does any know about these anemones? are they usually priced like this? and why are they so cheap?also can they be kept with corals? :)

Anemones are usually pretty cheap.. but I don't reccemend one. They require intense lighting, and specefic conditions.

They are generally priced like that. The problem is that they are hard to keep alive for a long time. They don't do well in captivity. They are reef safe, they do not bother corals. Although inexpensive, I would stay away from them...they are difficult to keep alive, as I've already said.

I think that the Atlantic anemone to which you are referring is a "cold water" variety... they are quite cheap relative to other anemones. I have a tank set up for about a year... I have three anemones and a Torch Coral... they are all thriving... I lost a Bubble to a powerhead and a Long-Tentacle Plate to disease b/c I didn;t build a little "pitcher's mound" and bacteria got in... othrewise, I have had good experience with them.
