Anems in Nano Tanks

So I was thinking about putting an anem into my Nano 24 and was talking to the guy at the LFS about it. He reccomended against putting an anem in because apparently if it dies it could nuke my tank. I'm not sure if he was talking about the Rose anem he has or if all anems in general. All you nano keepers out there tell me what you think? Will it nuke my tank? What kind of anems can be kept in my tank with a pair of false clowns?

Well that's a first. No, an anemone won't nuke your tank more than any other rotting coral.
I wouldn't put one in the size tank that you have. They like to roam and will step on everything else in that small of an environment.

If you only had the anem and a clown or two in that size tank, then I would say go for it! If you have any other corals in the tank, then you shouldn't. An anemone will not nuke your tank more than any other rotting coral/invert.
It also depends on what type of anemone you get... Some anemones can get quite large compared to others.

I had an anem die in my tank and nothing else died with it. If you leave it in there for a long time then yes, but that is the case with almost everything in a closed system.
A 24 is fine for an anem. I would recommend one of the smaller species like a bubble or a short tentacle like a sebae. If you get a long tentacle like a haitian, you will have to trade it in after a while because they get big. Carpets are too big for your tank too.

No an anemone will not "nuke" your tank. That's ridiculous. They will do the same damage as an other rotting coral, nothing more. However, they are harder to care for than some corals. If you don't have the right lighting, you're going to have trouble.
I had a bubble tip in a 14G OCeanic BioCube without any issues, and when it split, I just sold the babies to my LFS.
Anemones can roam around, and there's no guarantee when you get one that it will stay there, especially if your clowns annoy it too much, like mine do. I have one bubble tip that roams all over my 155G and did it in my 40G as well, it never stung anything though. I've seen aiptasia do worse damage than a bubble tip in all honesty. It's always a risk when you add an anemone to a tank, but to answer you questions, no it won't kill your tank, and you're tank being too small is a completely subjective question unfortunately, it's personal opinion on this one.

I have kept anemones' in nano's for years even with PC'S if your anemone is wandering than the lighting is not right or the water flow. I kept bulb rose anemone in 8 gal nano for year's, but I also do water changes weekly and replace my lighting with new bulbs at about 6 to 8 months hope that helps. Anemones' require extra care and attention daily to how they look.

Anemone are high light demanding creatures. Will some people have success with the stock lighting on a 24 Nano, yes. But in all of my reading on various forums I belong to this is not the norm but rather a lucky outcome.
If you really want to do this in the 24 Nano I would suggest you get either some high output T5 lighting or a Metal halide. Also make it a species type tank, the clowns and the anemone with little to nothing else in the way of coral.
Just my opinion.

I actually have a set of MH on my tank. However, I am also slightly concerned now because along with my clowns I have a purple firefish, frogspawn, and one zoa. The anem might eat my fire fish or run over my corals.

That is true it might. But you have to reconcile what it is you want to do here long term. Anemone and clownfish are the first things a lot of people think about when thinking of the ocean and reefs. People that do not have tanks and see this combination at your house are truly amazed by the relationship.
