Anenome feeding

Could someone please explain the best way to feed my anenome. I have two, one a bubble anenome which is taken care of by my maroon clown, the other is a green tip, or green octopus anenome as the LFS called it. This is the one I need help with. I purchased some frozen silver sides and was told that about a 1/4 inch of the food would be enough. The anenome is about the size of a softball, and it seems to be in about five sections, all attached to the same stem. I tried just dropping the food into the tentacles and for a while they grabbed the food and held on. A few minutes later it appeared that either the anenome pushed it away, or it was just dropped due to the rolling action of the current produced by the powerhead. I tried several times, even shut down the power head for awhile, but seemed as though he didn't want anything to do with it. Am I doing something wrong? should I cut the food into smaller portions?
Any help would be much appreciated!

I would make sure that the food is a little bit smaller than the anemones mouth and set it really close to its mouth. It could be that that particular anemone just doesnt like krill you could try shrimp from the store, cut it to a size smaller than the anemones mouth and again set it near its mouth.HTH

I actually feed my anemone by dropping a piece of fish into the water...the clown grabs it and takes it to the anemone for me.

I had the same problem with my plate coral. It did not seem to like the full-size silversides, even if they are cut into smaller chunks. It just rejected them. However, I bought frozen baby silversides, which look like they have less skin for the coral's digestive juices to penetrate, and it loves them. But maybe it is simply a size issue. I have not tried cutting the big silversides into sizes as small as the babies.
