I have a 100 gallon fish and live rock tank that I have had for 2 years. For the past 6 months I have been trying to keep anenomes. I buy one aclimate it the way it says and a few days later it starts to die. I have tried this 4 times. I feed them with fozen food and flakes, monitor the salinity (1.024), temp is 78-79, and the ammonia and nitrates are good. I have a 400 watt metal halide bulb with 2 sunpac 65 watts lights. I have a very nice berlin skimmer and think that I have fairly good water flow Help.....this is getting expenseive!

What type or types of anemones have you attempted to keep? Have you tried BTAs? These seem to be the easier/more hardy type. We have 2 under much less lighting than you have and they seem happy...the original split. Is it possible that they were not in good health when purchased?

I have actually tried a bubble tip, sebae, and long tenticle. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or if there is something in my tank that is killing them.

A couple of additional questions? What condition were the anemones in when you got them (was the mouth open constantly or relatively closed most of the time, how was their color (ie- white, pale, vibrant color, etc?)? How long did it take for them to die in your system (days, weeks, months)? When they died did they turn inside out, loose color, start to shrink or just kind of melt? Did you have any clowns that hosted in the anemones once they were in your system? How are your water conditions (ammonia, temp fluctuation, Nitrites & Nitrates). These questions will be helpful in answering your question. If you have any pictures of the anemones you had that died that would be helpful as well! Thanks!
