anenome sucked into filter intake

Does anyone know how to prevent anenomes from getting stuck in filter intakes? I looked online and a mesh bag was recommended but have had no luck finding a pet store that carries such things.

if you can rig up panty hose... Or even buy a large sponge you can cut to size.
Whatever you do, I'm pretty sure it has to be jerry rigged, I haven't seen anything for sale specific for this dilema

Does your power head have any type of guard on the intake? If your anemone is moving around a lot then it may be an indication that you have poor water quality or inadequate lighting.
Slipping a foam filter over the intake screen usually works. Just don't try to quickly pull the anemone out of your pump. You will tear it and it will die.

water quality is good, corals are doing well. I just purchased the anenome on that same day. I assumed that it was either hungry or scoping out his new home. The intake has the basic "cone shaped" strainer. I wasn't sure if a mesh bag would help unless it could be expanded beyond the shape of the cone to provide more holes or space for the flow rate to be reduced.

Oh my gosh sly, I was thinking "overflow" intake.
Did the OP change the question? I swear it said overflow.

, it sounded more like a powerhead style intake rather than a standpipe...

Thanks for everyone's advice. The anenome, which looked unrecognizable when i found him in the morning seems to be doing better and his buddy (tomato clownfish) is currently consoling it and nursing it back to health, no thanks to my ignorance. Needless to say, the intake strainer is currently covered with foam.

I'm sorry but we cannot confirm that. We have seen no evidence that would allow us to come to such a conclusion

Islandkoa, covers on the intakes of all equipment are necessary when you have anemones. I am glad it is doing better.
