Hey yall
I got this angelfish in my tank last Wednesday. I have seen him eat these new life spectrum pellets with garlic pretty good. Today I came home and noticed that one of his eye looks a little white and fuzzy and its kind of bulging a little. I'm thinking that it could be some kind of fungal disease.
I'm going to go to the store and get him more of a variety of fish foods to try out and see if that can hold him over for a day or two while I set up a proper quarantine tank.
I set up the quarantine tank - a 20g tank with an emperor 400 filter and a 50w heater - because that is all I have right now. I'm hoping that is enough for now. I put an egg crate screen over the top and I am mixing saltwater as we speak.
What's the best medicine for this type of infection? Maracyn 2? I don't know what all my local retail stores will have in stock... could I get some recommendations on several different medicines or treatments?
I have put the two biowheels from the filter into the tank water to try to gather some bacteria,... I hope that helps a bit. Is there any other chemicals I can use to help stabilize the quarantine tank ... like amquel or prime for ammonia and nitrite?
Man, it seems like I have forgotten more about the hobby in the last two years that I was out of it than I should have....
I don't want to lose such a beautiful fish to something that could be easily cured.
Also, as a secondary question - I have this 20g long as a quarantine tank, is that enough to quarantine a small sailfin tang and a small Philippine tang for a couple of weeks? ... I might want to hypo or copper treat them too before going in the tank.
