Angelfish

Two part question:
What is so different about the Regal Angel? It is the only Angel I have seen with the genus Pygoplites.
Would a 5" Red Sea Regal Angel get along with a 3" - 4" Juvinille Emperor? I don't want people to just reply with the standard "You can't mix angels" I have heard this and am familiar with it. Anyone ever tried this combination or other angels? I thought maybe since they are different genuses that it could work. The Emperor has been established in the tank for about 6 months.

I will let you know why it is the only species in the genus tommorrow after I consult my books at home. But I am pretty sure it has something to do with the rays in the fins being different. More to follow tommorrow.

I've heard stories of people mixing up to 5 angels in the same tank-don't ask me how large the tank was, but it took 2 years for them to get all 5 angels together, so I know it's def. possible. Good luck and let us know..I'm interested myself..esp. with the emperor-I plan on getting one once the nitrates are controlled in my tank.

Just to let you know that the regal angelfish is just as hard to keep in an aquarium as a Moorish Idle if not worse, but that is from my sources.

NOT TRUE, morish idols ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP BASICALY, and regals are very needy and disease magnets, BUT THEY ARE OK TO KEEP

Regal's are hard to get to eat in captivity but if you can get them to eat they are wonderful fish.

Regal Angels (P dicanthus) are quite hard to keep. If you get one, I recommend one from the Red Sea, and make sure it is eating multiple different foods.
RUBBERDUCK- Moorish Idols (Z cornatus) are very hard to keep also, but not impossible... the waikiki Aquarium has them breeding in captivity.
BTW- Regals are the only Pygoplites and Moorish Idols are the only Zanclans.

I think when everyone was refering to the moorish idol as hard to keep, they are considering the average home aquarium and not a public aquarium.

It definately has do to with the number of rays and their distribution on the fish. Shawnhardy please consult fishbase.com for further info.
