Angels and sponges?

I have a coral beauty but don't have any sponges. I do feed it an angelfish sponge frozen diet so I know that this is some of their food naturally. You should get more replies soon from some of the folks here that keep them.
Do you have a sponge right now?

I have a pygmy angel in with a tree sponge in my 55 and a flame angel in with a tree sponge in my 75 and they have never touched them. I never even thought about that as being a potential problem.

I don't know for sure if they would bother it. I only know that when I feed my coral beauty this frozen stuff it just goes crazy.

No sponges yet. I'm trying to slowly buildup my rockwork before adding any live stock. I'm just use to having corals to add color to my tanks and with my ideal stock list, that's not an option. I know that sponges are a part of an angels diet in the wild, I just wasn't sure if they would leave them alone in a tank. I was considering getting a yellowfin pygmy angel when my tank matures.

Correct, with a few exceptions. Some of the larger dwarfs, such as the Bicolor, and the Singapore angel, are voracious sponge eaters. Generally, dwarfs will not touch a sponge, but there is always the exception. I guess the only way to find out is to try, but it is very unlikely that he will eat it.

The singapore angel is not a dwarf angel. Its scientific name is Chaetodontoplus just like the Personifer Angel and Scribbled Angel. But most dwarf angels will leave sponges alone. I know the Golden Angelfish (Centropyge aurantius) will eat sponges but as far as others I'm pretty positive they would be okay.

No, the singapore is not technically a dwarf angel, but it is commonly regarded as one, and commonly sold as one, therefore I thought it would be proper to include that that "dwarf" angel would eat sponge. As far as the golden angel goes, I had one a couple years ago, with ball sponges, tree sponges, and encrusting sponges, and it never touched any of them. I suppose there are always exceptions to every rule. Generally, as I said, dwarfs will not touch sponge.

Good to know. Now I know that I can use the sponges to add color to my seascape.
I have an Oceanic 30 gallon high. I was thinking of stocking it with some of the following:
1-Pygmy Angel (possibly a yellowfin)
1-Knobby seastar
1-pincusion urchin
1-purple urchin
2-purple firefish
1-queen conch
1or2 clownfish(1 maroon,1 blue stripped,or 2 black and white)
1-green or citron clown goby
some ball, moon, and tree sponges
some feather dusters
Feel free to add anything or give any suggestions to the stocking list:)
