Annoying commercials

Thats a cool avatar! Im getting tired of seeing the same annoying commercials over and over and am considering using an old computer as a video recorder like the Tivo mentioned earlier so I can FF through the commercials.
Advertisers hate this and think they can prevent it by integrating the commercials into the script of the programs, so there is no break in programming.
Even with script integration if the HDR is timed right I think its possible to FF through the commercials anyhow.
 If somehow TV could be recorded with the HDR and watched with a 3 to 4 minute delay it might be possible to eliminate the commercials entirely. Time to start tinkering.
Heh, heh, heh... I'll never turn to the dark side...wait a minute Im already on the darkside.

There are a few golden ones. For some reason I crack up every time I see the Sprint wireless broadband commercial with the cowboy slapping the other guy. The fakeout slap kills me...every...single...time.

major companies are trying to make it so you CANT fast forward through the commercials by using TiVo or a DVR... they are complaining that their advertising money is not being watched...
I was in the grocery store last week... i was standing in line (i usually just use the self check out) and noticed that all of the checkstands had TV's on em... and these TVs were showing FREAKIN COMMERCIALS!!!

at first they are funny, but with how often budweiser's "here's to you, mr soandso" commercials play, they get old fast. currently they keep playing the "mr really loud cellphone talker guy" and its driving me nuts.

First of all, I hate all commercials. But, this one Peyton Manning commercial cracks me up. I think it's a Visa or Mastercard commercial and he goes and gets a latte and the guy that is making the latte gets steam blown in his face from the expresso machine, falls over and screams like a girl. Funny.

I agree with some of the previous posters that Head-on commercials are absolutely horid. What kills me is that I thought the originals were bad enough but then I saw the newer ones with the super scary girl that can't act.
I can't tell if their marketing group is brilliant or a bunch of morons. After all, regardless how much I hate their commercials I will remember their product..........................

The head-on commercials are the worst. I'm sick of the capital one commercials too though, they need to come up with a new theme.

I bet they will despise my homeade channel skipper then, I think I can get it to skip scripted commercials if they re-occur on a consistent time. Just set it to FF a few minutes every x number of minutes when a commercial normally starts heh, heh, heh.

Commercial ID software is workable, the problem is the timing. The total time for commercials would equal the prerecorded lead time if you want to watch commercial free. Eventually the time spent auto zapping commercials could condense a 60 minute show into 30 minutes and then your back to waiting on commercials again.
If satellite radio is commercial free, why isnt satellite TV? There should be a Commercial free option like HBO or Cinemax.

I remember when I was young they came out with "cable tv" and the whole gimmick was that we PAID so we didn't have to watch commercials... then one by one they added commercials and now we PAY to watch commercials :notsure: .
If Im driving down the road and ignoring their billboards I wonder if this is the same as commercial skipping.

it is... and advertisers are trying to make it mandatory that you read every bill board and marquis that you pass...
wait... couldnt one get an in-attentive driving ticket??? do you think that it would work as a defense for getting out of a ticket and then perhaps sueing the company whos bill board you were reading???

You know what would have been real funny? If some big boy out of site in the back would have came out and beat him within an inch of his life.

I record the news every night and watch it when it get's close to the end. We also tape other shows during the week and watch when we can. It is usually a day or two later. It makes watching TV much more efficient. I can get about 3 hours of TV in about 2.5 or less.
