another cycling question

I just want to know when cycling a tank with raw shrimp/prawn and there is lr in the tank do you need lighting for the rock to survive the process???? :help:

no, but I always did have my lights on a time cycle to get the brown diatoms bloom out of the way. It will happen eventually, so why not get it over with.

I agree, plus any hitch hicking photosynthetic critters may live thru the cycle also...
