The owner of one of my LFS's is trying to convince me that water changes are not necessary and the sooner he can convince everyone of this the better off everyone will be.
Does any one else believe in this theory?
He may have a point. If you can kep Nitrates to 0 and everything is doing fine then why change water. If on the other hand nitrates are rising, water changes will control them (up to a point).
I know many who do not do water changes and do not have DSB's in the main tank. They do use additives to replace trace elements, cal + alk + mag, and DT's.
