if you are unsure, dont add them. bring them back tomorrow. You'll be stuck with them for a long time and you'll never be happy.

well i dont care about leaving them in there permantly b/c they are really pretty....but i dont want them killing each other off or harassing my clown in there at all.....the biggest of the damsels is extremely mean........it is picking on the others.....i thought maybe about leaving the 3 small damsels in the 55 and putting the other two somehwere else seperately or seeing by some chance if i can take them back

right now i am putting them all in a one gallon nano i have

they dont seem that agressive in the 1 gallon nano....even when i fed them, they ate good too, how do u think 5 blue devil damsels will fair with one tomato clown? who will bully who?

the damsels are a very territorial fish. It might depend on the size of the clown. Is he a big one? and the damsels wont be as bad as they can be because they are not the first fish in the tank. But if your clown is small, they would easily take over. First your tank....Then?...The world....

A few years back i added 5 blue damsels to my 200 and only one survived after 6 months. They all fought until only one was left, even with 180 lbs on LR to split them up.

Can you snap a pic? there are a lot of very knowledgable ppl that frequent the board, maybe your mistaken? hopefully? since it is a 2hr drive.
btw I tried blue chromi's and they never did school well. I tried some green ones and they did, until my large tomato decided 7 chromi's were a crowd. Tomato's can be wicked lil fish, unless yours is really small I wouldnt worry about them pickin on him more the opposite way. FYI I also when I first started put in some blue damsels, the beat everything new I intro'd into the tank once the becase established. I wasnt willing to tear apart my reef to get them so the only solution I could come up with was a lionfish, which the harrassed until he died. The final solution was one good sized humahuma trigger, problem solved. My point being unless your absolutely sure you want those damsels think twice about putting them in your main tank.

well thanks for the replies!! i am positive they are blue damsels....i have looked up a billion pictures today and i am 110% positive thats what they are
but i sure i do not want them in there harassing any new fish.......and seeing as they would be only the second addition i do not want to take a risk...so i guess now i just baby sit them and call the LFS tommorow and see if they will let me take them back and get credit!:nervous:

sounds like you might look into mail order if your tank can sustain that much of a bioload increase at once. 2 hour drive is a long way to go for a bunch of 2 dollar fish. I feel ur pain.

you are right about the drive for the fish but i just dont know what to do with them, b/c i really dont think i want them in there if they are gonna harass new fish...or even my old one but these fish are beautiful!! they are just "little devils" i am soooooooooooooooooo tempted just to put them in my tank...hoping that they wouldnt kill each other off, that they wouldnt harass my tomato clown, and harass new tank mates in the future, but its too much of a risk but i confess that i will probably wind up getting anxious and throwing them in:nope:
and if i do throw them in...well they atleast school or something close to that? at least hang around each other?
