another question about cycling

we have a tank that was already established before we got it, should we still cycle? thanks for the previous suggestions

How long has the water been going in the tank for? If its water from an alrdy established tank, then you might have a small cycle.

the tank was purchased with the same water, the person who had the tank before us had to have had that tank established for at least a year. thanks for the reply

the water is not what would cause the cycle the live rock and live sand is your filter you could do a 100 percent water change with no cycle what causes the cycle is if your rock sat out of water to long and stuff on the rock dies or if you dont use the same live sand and you have to wait for the bactirea to grow in it

was the tank still running when you got it? meaning were fish/inverts still living in it? if so, no cycle needed, it's already cycled. if there were no fish/inverts in the water and the lights have been off (meaning stuff a lr -if there is any-would have died) then yes you need to cycle.
do you know the history of the water in the tank? were any chemicals in the tank (ex, copper). did fish die in the tank?
