Another water change question

I have a 47 gal tank, I plan tomm to go about 40% water change. I mixed this all up about 5:00pm I was going to wait 24hrs 5:00pm tomm to do the change only this, I added a bit more salt at like 11:30pm should I wait another day or should it be safe to continue with my plan. There is anly LR in there.

They are 100+. Not sure where it came from originally, My bucket I made up last night were 0-2ppm. So possibly the sand even though its not live. I would say the live rock but it was high before I put that in. So not sure..

Ok just for my benefited I have some questions.
How did you cycle your tank?
What did you use to cycle?
What live stock do you have in it now?
Can you test for nitrates with another kit or at your LFS?
My thought are, as nitrates are the end result of nitrification your time line IMO seems not to be long enough to have that high a nitrate reading. You would again IMO have to have a much more colonized bio filter with a constant supply of “food” to build up that much nitrate in that short a period of time.
I have to correct my self here you state your tank is running for 3 weeks is that 3 weeks after you cycled it or is that 3 weeks from the start of your cycle
The sand does not cause nitrates they can harbor it as the nitrifying bacteria colonize on and in the sand that’s where the nitrates tend to accumulate

I guess im in the process of cycling, 3weeks total up time. there is no livestock in there. I took my water sample to a LFS and the read high there too.

and you have no live rock in your tank
And I am assuming no fish, if that’s the case IMO you dont not need to age your water, I would do a 100 % water change but first also try this take about a gallon of your new water put it in a bucket test it for nitrates take a few cups of sand out of your tank put it in the bucket stir let it settle and test that water again

Organisms on your dead rock (the rock is just the platform for life, it in its self can never come to life, I hope) will deal with it

I would use the water as it is right now... Nitrates that high will probably hurt it more than the salt.... JMHO, though.
And Joe, are you always that nitpicky??? gosh....

It is quite obvious you have not read many of my posts I can assure you I am one of the nicest, kindest, lest opinionated, introverted, all around nice guy on the boards and certainly not a nit picker. This was just a one in a million bad day
