Another what are these

Today I cleaned one of my fluval filters. When I pulled out the foam part of the filter I had these slug like creatures sticking on it. About 8 or 10 of them, about 1.5 to 2 cm long and dead at this point. What are they and are they good or bad? Should I take measures to keep them from getting sucked into the filter?

I'm thinking Q-Tip sponges. They like to hang in the dark. I've never found them in a canister though.

Yeah I agree with MarVida, those are Qtip sponges. A harmless filter feeder, very common in darker spots. I have lot of them on the backs of my rocks and in my sump.
