depending on your qualifications, the beauty is that you don't have to stay at the same job. If you are a computer programmer, that really is needed in every industry, so you can do whatever you want. there is nothing saying you HAVE to stay at your same job. That is what is truely great about this country.

That's so true. I am definitely going to look for something else.

Especially since I now have more skills, I never had the time to learn the language I'm programming in now prior to this job, and now that I know it, I can take it anywhere!

with the right reputation and skills, you should be able to make 5 figure moves in a few years in IT. you seriously shouldn't stay at the same place more than 2-3 years TOPS in IT unless you're seriously at the top of the pay scale, and then you start looking for percs like time off and stuff :)
remember, all the little college kids coming out with their degrees are starting at more than what you're getting paid if you've been there longer than 3 years.

Yeah, that last part happened at my old job; was there for 2 years and we hired a new guy making more than we were, tho he lasted all of 3 months. We were still cleaning up his messes a year later....heh.

It is through the college he is at. And he has been promoted based on merit, and everyone else quitting. He started at 7 bucks an hour. They are desparate, and he isn't some stupid kid. Well he is stupid, but that is ok in the dorkdom of computer nerds.
