Any gun owners out there?

I owned 2 SKS and 2 AK 47. I sold the AK's and one SKS cause I can only shoot one at a time. The AK is alot lighter than the SKS, but I much prefer the all machined SKS to the stamped and pressed AK. All mine were the Russian models, so they weren't the cheap, throw away Chinese guns. The Colt AR15 I had was a jam machine. An hour of cleaning for every 10 minutes of shooting. I guess the newer AR's are supposed to be better, but SKS ammo is alot cheaper and you can get away with alot less maintenance with no detrimental effect. Try shooting 20 rounds through an AR and throw it into your safe for a month without cleaning it, then pull it out and try to shoot more than once. AR 15's and M4's are good shooters but way too much work for civilian use.

I was reading the

[hr]
Sporting Goods flyer this morning, and they have this Remington R-15 Varmit Gun. It's a .223, and it kinda looks like an AR-15 knockoff. Anyone ever seen one of these?

I was watching Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man the other day and was admiring one of the guns used in the movie. I looked it up and it was a Ruger 44 Redhawk. Looked pretty sweet. I stocked up on bullets before O was elected and am I sure glad that I did. I do need some 380 rounds now. What's the cheapest bullet plce online?

I'll bet he's glad he was armed and not a defenseless victim. And I bet the thief has serious reservations about car jacking next time. Also, as far as the cost of ammo, I hadn't bought ammo in 12 years or so, so I replenished my 7.62x39, .357 and 380 ammo last month. I was pleasantly surprised. I belong to one other forum, a Dodge forum, and there are alot of guys there saying how scarce and expensive ammo had become. I bought from cheaperthansoil.com and paid the same for the 7.62 and LESS for the 380 and .357 (both hollow point) than I did in 1998 when I last bought some. Did the price and availibility of ammo get crazy and I missed it?
Hey, I applaud the guy for standing up to the sleaze ball. The only issue I had with the situation is after he drew his gun, the guy apparently started to run off. Instead of grabbing his cell phone and calling the cops, he decided to take matters into his own hands, and starts shooting at the guy to try and stop him. This is in the middle of a public parking lot with several innocent bystanders walking around. The outcome could've been much worse, with the possibilty of him shooting someone that had nothing to do with the situation. So ironically instead of being a hero, he'd end up getting charged with attempted murder or murder if he shot someone besides the jerk.
Where were you when all the hullaballoo started with people thinking Obama was going to modify the 2nd Amendment to outlaw certain weapons? When that hit the news, every gun fanatic across the country started the rumors that certain ammo wouldn't be produced anymore, and the rush was on. I remember when this started, I was at Academy looking at a new firearm in the gun section. I watched this guy talking on his cell phone, and he was telling some guy the inventory of ammo at the store. A buddy was with him, and they start saying how Fred is at D-i-c-k-s Sporting Goods, John was at Bass Pro Shops, and Tim was at a gun shop on Bandera (a local highway). Apparently they were going to corner the market on .223 ammo, which is the primary load for most of these 'assault weapons' Obama was supposedly going to get banned. Interesting how that never came about.

One reason for the ammo shortage is Obama. He changed the rules on disposing of military brass. Commercial reloaders used to be able to buy it but that changed. If Obama had his way he would change the 2nd.

I had one of those nice SKS's with the detachable mag. However they aren't as good as the good AK's. The Yugoslovian AK's have the nice machined receivers.

Holy $#@* ! That is definitely not a California approved magazine.
My SKS has a Fiberforce stock with the folding stock and I have 4 snap together 30 round clips. My brother who bought one of my AK's had to sell it after the ban there in Cali. Those are, of course, old photos right?

I don't know if there was a thread here or not, but when I read some folks saying Obama was going after guns I have always laughed at the notion. Yes, I think he would ban all private gun ownership, but it would be suicide for the Democratics for another 12 years. As Senator Harry Reid said in 2008 after Obama won, "It wasn't Monica Lewinski or the tax issue that lost us the House and Senate. It was the assault weapons ban that crippled us nationally." He and Pelosi and almost all the Democratics signed a letter they sent to the NRA pledging NO gun control law would be allowed on the floor for a vote, much less let out of committee. The party of John Conyers and Maxine Waters wants nothing more than to ban all private firearms, they just know they'll spend 12 years in the desert again, so they're going to hold off until they get 20 million brand new Democratics legalized, then they'll go for the gun ban.

Come on. Regardless of any standing President's stance on gun control, there would NEVER be one that would even touch one of the most sacred and revered Amendments in our Constitution. When I had all my weapons, I couldn't remember the last time I'd bought store-bought ammo. My brother and I reloaded everything. I still get reloads for my 9mm from him. Granted he still has his dealer's license, so he has access to brass that the public has a harder time acquiring. If he can't find the brass he needs, he just reloads the stuff he's already shot. Any shortage now is simply paranoia.

Just the paranoia about what Obama might do caused a lot of the shortage. I didn't stock up because I thought I wouldn't be able to buy, I stocked up because I thought exactly what happened would. Holding back the brass just added to the situation.
At this point I think Obama is pretty much neutered but we'll see. Never underestimate the Republican's ability to screw up a sure thing but I can see Obus trying to push through an ammo tax.

Sounds just like the one I had, Not a bad weapon at all for what I paid for it, talked the shop down to 195 for the gun, 2 clips and a whole lot of ammo plus they sold me all those hollow points really cheap.
I remember back around 92 you could buy a SKS and a can of ammo for 89 bucks at the gun shows. My paranoid brother bought several of those deals and sealed them in PVC pipe and burried them around his place in case the black copters came after him

There are a lot of Democrats who still want to revisit the ban. That is why it is important to keep the public oposition visible so the politicians wont jump froggy.

I had to leave my Bushy, the SKS and a Walther P22 in Missouri when I moved to Ca. The Walther rimfire 22 has a barrel that attaches with a nut. The threads on the end of the barrel (that the nut threads onto to lock the barrel to the frame) constitutes a threaded barrel and it gets instant Assault Weapon status.

Well maybe I should have put off buying the 380. I got hit with so many expenses yesterday that I didn't see coming.
$330 for karate
$200 for school (this is just what I know about ... no telling what the wife spent on new clothes)
$185 for pool supplies
An insane electric bill

Yes my daughter is in advance training now and so I had to buy her weapons and she also needed a new uniform and I had to pay a year's worth of dues.
My electric bill was over $600.
