any info on a diatom filter

i was cosidering a 2nd tank my freind wants to sell me a diatom filter that he used only 2 weeks i dont know much about them so any info would help

GREAT FILTERS! NOT TO BE USED ALL THE TIME THOUGH. I USE MY VORTEX ONCE A WEEK (AT LEAST I TRY TO). THEY ARE GREAT FOR CLEARING UP CLOUDY WATER, TAKING PARTICALS THAT A FULL TIME FILTER CAN'T GET, AND MY PERSONAL FAVORITE, TURN IT ON AND STIR UP THE SAND REAL GOOD.

he's got technical errors with the keyboard, caps lock is broke, give the guyt a break
i agree 100% with the LORD, they are great, but should not be used all the time, just from time to time
