Any MH experts out there?

I posted this in the equipment section too but I really need advice so I am posting it here also. I have a MH unit that is not functioning. I have the bell shaped lamps that hang over my tank with a 6' cord that leads into the black ballast box. The ballast box has a single toggle switch on it for on/off. Two days ago, this lamp stopped lighting. I replaced the bulb but the box doesn't even get warm anymore which means to me that it is not working. Any suggestions? Has anyone faced this before and does anyone happen to have any quick fix suggestions?

Since no one else has chimed in here, I'm sorry to say but it sounds like you have a dead ballast. It sometimes happens when the transformer burns out. Not sure if it can be repaired or not.

Thanks for the reply. So we are talking about replacement of the transformer only? Is that right? Do you know where I can buy just the transformer part of the MH's?

Try these guys. It may not be a hamilton ballast, but they carry parts and can probably tell you what is up with yours. They have e-mail and a toll free number on the site.
