if you want clams, go with at least 2x250 HQI 10,000K with some actinic supplementation, 2x96 or 2x130. They are more intense than what you have.

You will need the balast to run the mh bulb, the pc balast will not work, the light has to be 8 to 12 inches above the water. If u order the kit it will come with the bulb scoket and the balast.

ok so I need stronger lighting for clams.
But are those 2 I mentioned still stronger than my 520W PC?
WHat is Parabolic Reflector? It comes with the HQI lights. Is that the UV protector?
Also does an 'Internal electronic metal halide and power compact ballasts' mean I can add any WATTS MH lamp in the future?

it reflects more of the light into the tank where you want it. The UV filter is the Low-E glass that's on the bottom of the pendant that also protects the bulb.

not necessarily. Ballasts also specify what bulbs can be used with them.

I just fired up a 150 watt HQI bulb on my fraggrow out tank (never used a 150 watt DE before) I'm VERY impressed. This is only a 30 gal tank but its going to be growing out sps so I'm pretty confident I could keep clams.
FWIW, if you going to buy a 150 watt system I'd go with a 250 watt system. There is no real extra cost for the increase wattage...
