Recirc style based on the Deltec design. Runs on a Ocean Runner 2700 Needle Wheel pump. It's gravity feed off the OF's about 75-100 gph and dumps in the sump. It kicks some butt. With out the pump cost me less than $100.00 and the pump I think was $65.
Granted there are some pretty major mods to some of the PVC. Most of the work is inside. One of the other things I do is turn wood (thus TurningTim). So I turned down a lot of parts and made the ******** as sleek as possible.
Still got everything from Lowes and the collect cup from a container store.
I would love to build an acrylic one but to pricey unless you go monster style. I've seen similar designs with 4 of those pumps and 12" diameter. Way to cool!

Noticed you were from Parker, Ive got a place in Arvada. Currently living in San Diego for the next few years. There are a couple of large plastic dealers nearby and Ive seen some tube stock in the scrap bin before. Ordered some 1.25" for a 10FT tank I'll be starting in the summer. The tank is too big to carry into my basement so Im going to build it on site. Just need to figure out the stand dilema. Anyhow didnt mean to hi jack the original thread. Nice skimmer though.

No con needed, but got to run for a bit! I'll be back.
If you have some time search "plumbing 101" give that a quick read at least the first couple pages.
squidd is the man! Start a new thread and we'll see what we can come up with!
