I bought a 250 gallon tank off a guy and it came with 4 large black sumbersible stealth heaters. When I first hooked up the tank and was adding water the only equipment I had plugged in was these heaters. I stuck my hand in the water to move the sump pump and im pretty sure i got electrocuted. So i unplugged them, took them out.
my question is how do i go about checking these to see which is faulty without just sticking my hand in the water with one plugged in at a time.
Id rather not throw out 3 perfectly good heaters because one is broke. I dont see any cracks or anything on any of them.

i have no idea what the proper way of handling that is, but that is scary stuff. Did it hurt when you got electrocuted?
Do you have a smaller tank? Maybe you can fill a 10 gallon and test each one. Maybe throw a bug in there, see if he gets electrocuted!! haha, idk.
There has to be some device out there to test the wiring of each heater. GOOD LUCK

yep, use a gfci and plug em in one at a time until you find the one that trips the gfci, then throw it out.
